How to Use the OC Schools Overview
Terminology
  • OC Places: The number of Year 5 Opportunity Class places listed for 2027 entry by the NSW Department of Education. From the 2027 intake onwards, an equal number of places will be made available for girls and boys at co-educational schools under the gender parity model. For an intake of 15 students, 7 places are made available to girls, 7 to boys, and the remaining place is offered based on academic merit, regardless of gender. Final enrolment numbers may vary if allocated places are not filled.
  • Region: Identifies whether the school is located in Metropolitan Sydney, Regional NSW or operates as a virtual Opportunity Class program.
  • NAPLAN-Based Position: The position among OC schools appearing in the selected year’s third-party NSW Top 200 Primary Schools list, after preserving the source order. It does not represent OC-only performance, placement competitiveness or an official government ranking.
  • Not listed: The school did not appear in the third-party NSW Top 200 Primary Schools table for the selected year. This does not mean that the school had no NAPLAN results or performed below a particular standard. No comparison rank has been estimated.
  • School Website: Links to each school’s official NSW public school website.

* Aurora College is a virtual Opportunity Class program for students in rural and remote NSW. Applicants must be enrolled in, or intend to enrol in, Year 5 at an authorised host public school. Students are not eligible while enrolled in a NSW public school that is close to, or part of, another Opportunity Class provision.
** Blaxland East Public School and Glenbrook Public School accept new Year 5 students in alternate years. For 2027 entry, 30 Year 5 places are available at Blaxland East Public School, while no new Year 5 places are available at Glenbrook Public School.
