Over 30 Years of Excellence: Why Pre-Uni New College Trial Test Course is Number 1 in the Market
The Mathematical Reasoning and Thinking Skills workbook is provided to offer students additional practice questions, helping to reinforce their skills. These questions are available not only in paper workbook format but also in CBT (Computer-Based Testing) format on Cyberschool, allowing students to practice in a simulated test environment.
In our classes, teachers utilise the Smart Review System to provide a comprehensive review for students. However, our extensive experience has shown that even after attending review sessions, students often struggle to retain what they’ve learnt. Rather than simply presenting the same questions again, Pre-Uni New College enhances students’ skills by allowing them to retake tests focused on the questions they previously answered incorrectly. To further support their learning, Pre-Uni New College provides each student with a Retest Challenge, dividing all incorrect questions into sets of 5. This approach ensures continuous improvement and better retention of the material.
Once students complete the Review Challenge, which is composed of questions they previously answered incorrectly, additional practice is provided. For Mathematical Reasoning and Thinking Skills, students receive 5 extra questions each. These additional questions are intentionally more difficult, aimed at further enhancing students’ analytical abilities.
For Reading, after finishing the Review Challenge, students are given an additional full set of Reading 1+1 practice. This allows students to engage in more comprehensive practice, further strengthening their reading skills.
Students are encouraged to enhance their writing and editing skills by applying feedback from their initial tests. This process allows them to experiment with literary techniques and complex sentence structures, improving the overall engagement and quality of their writing. After submitting their revised work, students receive additional feedback to support continuous refinement and academic progress.
Pre-Uni New College provides exemplars from students who performed well on the same writing prompt through a Passage Arrange Activity. This activity ensures that students engage with the top-scoring writings more thoughtfully, encouraging them to carefully analyse the structure and flow of the passages. By arranging these passages, students not only enhance their understanding of effective writing techniques but also improve their ability to connect ideas coherently.
Additionally, through the Feedback Activity, students evaluate the writing of their peers. This process encourages them to reflect on the criteria for effective writing, which in turn helps them apply these insights when crafting their own work.
To build a strong foundation in English, students are provided with a Vocabulary Test that helps reinforce their understanding of essential words. The vocabulary list for this test can be found in the English Workbook, ensuring students have access to the necessary resources to enhance their language skills.
The Reading Passage and Poem Annotation guides offer more than just answer-finding strategies—they provide students with the tools to deeply engage with literature. These resources help develop critical interpretation skills, empowering students to analyse any passage or question they encounter. By focusing on a holistic understanding of literary works, the guides aim to foster a lifelong ability to approach and interpret various forms of literature with confidence, and this support is provided when students engage in Reading Challenging Review.
Pre-Uni New College provides a reference guide based on your STTC performance to help you identify selective high schools where you are most likely to succeed. This guide categorises schools into bands according to your results in Reading, Mathematical Reasoning, Thinking Skills, and Writing, offering valuable insights for your school selection process.

STTC Challenge: Customized Retest System
The STTC Challenge is a customized retest system developed by Pre-Uni New College.
It focuses on questions that students previously answered incorrectly in their tests, offering
a tailored review experience aimed at improving performance across all subjects.
Limitations of Simply Re-Showing Incorrect Questions
Long-term statistical data shows that simply re-showing incorrect questions does not effectively improve skills, as it does not help students understand why they made mistakes.
Additionally, without review records, parents find it difficult to track their child’s progress, making it hard to manage and monitor academic development.
The Core Structure of the TTC Challenge
Review Incorrect Questions → Unlock New Challenge Questions
01
02
03
Special Structure for MR/TS Subjects:
Students begin the Review with easier problems, based on their average performance.
The Review is provided in a Retest format, allowing students to re-attempt the questions independently.
Once the Review is fully completed, students can access a detailed review of all the questions they answered incorrectly,
divided into sets of five. Only after finishing each set can they move on to the next one.
Students who sincerely complete the Review are given an extra set of five more challenging problems to further sharpen their abilities.
Structure for Reading Review:
The Reading review is based on groups of 5 questions selected from the student’s incorrect answers.
Unlike Mathematical Reasoning (MR) and Thinking Skills (TS), the questions are provided in the order of the original passage flow, not sorted by difficulty.
Students review the questions sequentially, following the natural flow of the reading material.
Why Is the
Retest Review System Essential?
During the review session, students are provided with explanations and correct answers to the questions they got wrong.
If, even after a week, students cannot solve the same questions correctly—starting from easier ones—it indicates that they have not truly understood the material.
The STTC Challenge is designed to help students recognize their learning gaps and support them in systematically overcoming their weaknesses.
Why
Independent Study Is Crucial
Simply attending classes or taking exams does not guarantee real skill development. Active review of mistakes, reflection, and repeated practice are essential.
“Without independent study, significant academic improvement is extremely difficult.” The STTC Challenge naturally fosters habits of self-review, critical thinking, and continuous improvement.

Parents’ Reactions to the Retest Review System
Initially, because the Retest Review System is a new and unfamiliar style of Review, some parents may find the process inconvenient. However, among the parents who understood and trusted the system, we have received numerous positive feedback reports that students have achieved real academic improvement through this method.
STTC Challenge is a systematic learning system where students review incorrect problems, complete the review through retests, and then unlock new challenge problems. MR/TS subjects start with easier problems for review, and Reading provides five-question sets according to the passage flow. Students cannot simply rely on taking tests and attending classes; independent study and active review are essential for genuine academic improvement. Many parents who understood the Retest Review System have witnessed real improvement in their children’s academic performance.
By repeatedly engaging with incorrect questions, students can minimize silly mistakes and advance to the next level or band.
The system fosters a growth mindset, helping students build upon their weaknesses and solidify their understanding of key concepts.
Consistent use of the STTC Challenge is associated with significant improvement in student results compared to those who do not use it.
The system retrieves all incorrect questions per subject (Mathematical Reasoning, Thinking Skills, and Reading) that students answered incorrectly in recent tests.
The number of sets varies depending on the number of incorrect answers
Only after completing all assigned sets will students receive additional, more challenging questions.
For Reading, once all assigned sets are completed, students are given a new test as part of the Reading 1+1 program, providing further practice and opportunities to improve comprehension skills.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Cyberschool?
The online educational platform, Cyberschool (www.cyberschool.com.au), is tailored for Pre-Uni New College primary students enrolled in foundation courses. This resource serves as a means for students to obtain supplementary assistance with their homework and review their prior classroom materials. The lessons are delivered by experienced and skilled teachers who have collaborated to design engaging, activity-oriented sessions for your child’s enjoyment. Access to the Cyberschool website is entirely complimentary for students currently enrolled at Pre-Uni New College.
What is S.O.Q?
S.O.Q (Special Online Quiz) comprises a set of review questions strategically created to motivate our students to revisit fundamental principles covered in earlier modules. Cyberschool offers four online quizzes during weeks 2, 4, 6, and 8 of the course. This is only available for students enrolled in a foundation course.
Will students see their teachers during online lessons?
Since teachers possess authority over their live online sessions, they will activate their cameras and be clearly visible to students throughout the virtual class. Additionally, teachers will have access to the screen-sharing feature, enabling students to observe content presented by the teacher during the sessions.
Since classes are online, is it possible to join other online classes outside a student’s scheduled class?
Due to a restricted capacity for each class, it is necessary for students to participate in their assigned session.
How do teachers ensure that kids are focused whilst learning?
Educators utilise various methods to captivate students and guarantee their focus during online video lessons. For instance, numerous video classes incorporate interactive learning exercises that prompt students to tackle questions in real time. Nevertheless, it’s vital to acknowledge that the Cyberschool video lessons are designed for self-directed learning. As a result, parental support and guidance are essential.
I’m not able to travel to the branch (or live outside NSW), is there an option of remote learning?
We provide remote or online alternatives based on the specific requirements of our students. Our regular foundation courses are conducted through live online sessions using platforms like Zoom, while our Cyber Course is accessible through our Cyberschool platform.
My child is enrolled in WEMT. What is the recommended online learning routine my child should follow?
Throughout the week, students are anticipated to finalise all the questions within the modules. If they feel the need for additional module clarification, they can utilise the Cyberschool video lessons to revisit module concepts and questions.
