WEMT OCFC WRITING

Starting in 2026, the OC exam will be a computer-based test (CBT) held in early May. To help students adapt, we are launching the OC Foundation Course (OCFC) for Year 3 students. This course builds a strong foundation in OC exam question types, preparing students for a smooth transition to the computer-based OC Trial Test Course (OCTTC) in Term 3.

The Opportunity Class Placement test has 3 test section.

How our OCFC program works?

STEP 1

Computer-Based Test

Students attending class complete computerised tests under exam conditions designed to simulate the real exam experience. Each week, students take two exams, alternating between Reading and Mathematical Reasoning & Thinking Skills. The timing of each exam matches that of the OC Placement Test. It is crucial for students to arrive on time to fully utilise the allocated time for the exam. In line with NSW Department of Education exam rules, late students will not receive additional time.

STEP 2

Comprehensive Exam Review

Upon completing the exam, students have the opportunity to review their performance. Our subject matter experts can share their screens across all devices, providing an immersive review experience. They analyse key performance indicators for the class and individual answer selections, enabling them to deliver tailored education to meet each student’s learning needs.

STEP 3

In-Depth Analytical Reporting

Students and parents gain access to a dynamic exam report that showcases the student’s performance relative to their peers. The report highlights the child’s strengths and weaknesses, offering valuable insights for skill development in the next step. It can also serve as a reference during individual consultations, where subject matter experts provide tailored strategies to guide student development.

STEP 4

Self-Guided Skills Development

Students have access to a wide range of additional resources on Cyberschool to support their learning needs. These resources cover key subjects such as Mathematical Reasoning, Thinking Skills, Reading. Students are encouraged to collaborate with their parents to ensure their learning needs are met and to maintain motivation throughout this development phase. This approach also helps build essential study skills for succeeding among top-ranking peers in higher education.

Reading

Each week focuses on a different reading format, including comprehension, poetry, gapped texts, and multiple matching. Students build skills through targeted workbook practice and vocabulary development. Lessons include a computer-based test followed by a detailed review to reinforce understanding and exam techniques.

Mathematical Reasoning & Stage 2 Maths

Students learn and master Stage 2 Maths topics (NSW K–10 Syllabus) through structured workbook lessons. Each lesson includes a computer-based mathematical reasoning test and a detailed review session for reinforcement. These skills are essential for the OC Mathematical Reasoning Test and the Thinking Skills problem-solving section.

Thinking Skills

Each week focuses on key thinking skills topics, including critical thinking and problem-solving. Students develop their skills through structured workbook practice. Lessons include a computer-based test followed by a detailed review session with explanations.

Optimising Exam Performance

Our Computer Based Test format is intuitively designed, providing students the opportunity to refine their exam strategy, increase test taking accuracy and showcase their potential in the actual exam.

OCFC Workbook Module Answer

Access workbook answers on Cyberschool to check your work and learn from any mistakes. This reinforces learning and empowers you to independently review and improve.

Vocabulary Builder

Put your vocabulary to the test! Cyberschool offers vocabulary practice tests during the specified service period, based on the provided vocabulary lists. This helps strengthen your language skills and prepare you for vocabulary sections in the exams.

OCFC Challenge

After class test reviews, Cyberschool lets you revisit missed questions in Reading, Mathematical Reasoning, and Thinking Skills during the specified service period. Retrying these questions helps solidify understanding and identify areas for improvement. OCFC challenge menu allows students to review questions they got wrong in the recent OC mathematical reasoning and thinking skills tests. Challenge opens on the first day of Reading test week and available for the next two weeks.

OC Practice Questions

After completion of weekly lessons, students can attempt OC practice questions to reinforce their understanding and exam readiness.

Special D/C price* offer is available only to the parents who enrol in both Term 2 full-term OCFC and Term 2 full term Year 3 WEMT course together. This price does NOT include the WEMT course fee. Parents must pay the term 2 WEMT course fee separately.

Scholarship discounts are available until the Early Bird Payment Due Date: Tuesday, 7 April 2026, 5 pm.

Sibling discounts do not apply to the OC Foundation Course (OCFC).

Please consider this information when you enrol in the OCFC: Students can only access the OCFC class test questions during their scheduled class sessions. While Cyberschool may offer limited access to review specific portions under certain conditions and policies, this course does not provide take-home test papers.

Important Notes: The Cyberschool service is not included in the tuition fee but is provided free of charge by Pre-Uni New College. It is available for a set period and will no longer be accessible once this period ends. Please note that the Cyberschool service is subject to change without notice.

What is Cyberschool?

Cyberschool (www.cyberschool.com.au) is an online educational platform that provides tailored learning for Pre-Uni students enrolled in our foundation courses. This platform is a source of supplementary resources, providing students with assistance with homework and in-class tasks. Students enrolled at Pre-Uni New College receive complimentary access to engaging, activity-oriented lessons designed by skilled and experienced teachers.

What is S.O.Q?

Special Online Quiz (SOQ) is an online review quiz strategically designed to motivate students to revisit fundamental concepts covered in earlier modules. SOQ is made available on Cyberschool during weeks 2, 4, 6 and 8 of the term. Please note that SOQ is only available to students enrolled in a foundations course.

Will students see their teachers during online lessons?

Students should be able to see their teacher during the live online session. In addition to ensuring students maintain their cameras during class, teachers also have access to screen-sharing features, enabling students to observe content presented by teachers in real time.

Since classes are online, is it possible to join other online classes outside a student’s scheduled class?

Due to a restricted capacity for each class, it is necessary for students to participate in their assigned session.

How do teachers ensure that kids are focused whilst learning?

Educators utilise various methods to maintain student engagement during online video lessons.This includes incorporating interactive learning exercises which prompts students to tackle questions in real time. It is important to note that parental support is essential when students engage in self-directed learning.

I’m not able to travel to the branch (or live outside NSW), is there an option of remote learning?

We provide remote or online alternatives based on the specific requirements of our students. Our regular foundation courses are conducted through live online sessions using platforms like Zoom, while our Cyber Course is accessible through our Cyberschool platform.

My child is enrolled in WEMT. What is the recommended online learning routine my child should follow?

Throughout the week, students are anticipated to finalise all the questions within the modules. If they feel the need for additional module clarification, they can utilise the Cyberschool video lessons to revisit module concepts and questions.
