We’re excited to announce that the Year 6 37th ASAT will be held on Sunday, 29th March 2026.
This one‑day mock test offers students a valuable opportunity to gain a final confidence boost before the 2026 selective school exam. Designed to closely replicate the real test, it provides:
❖ A wide range of question styles and difficulty levels, aligned with the latest exam format
❖ Relevant, up‑to‑date material to build familiarity and confidence
❖ Insightful feedback highlighting each student’s strengths and areas for improvement
❖ Peer comparison to better understand readiness relative to other candidates
By experiencing a realistic test environment, students can sharpen their preparation and maximise their chances of success.

📚 Year 6 ASAT Registration & Test Information
| Who can register | Registration is open to Year 6 students scheduled to sit the NSW Selective School Placement Test on 1–2 May 2026. | |

| Test format | The test will be conducted using personal laptops (BYOD) and will consist of four (4) sections: reading, writing, mathematical reasoning and thinking skills. | |
| Test session | ▪️ 8:20am – 12:00pm OR 1:30pm – 5:10pm session. ▪️ Session times may vary based on participant numbers and venue capacity. | |
| Test Centre locations | ▪️ Tests will be held near Strathfield and Rydalmere. ▪️ Test centre advice letters will be emailed beginning 24 March 2026. | |
| Registration fee | ▪️ $100 per applicant (non-refundable and no credits for cancellations) ▪️ Discounted $90 applies for students enrolled in WEMT, STTC, Thinking Skills, or Writing full‑term courses in Term 1, 2, 3, or 4 of 2025, or Term 1 of 2026 (holiday courses not included). | |
| How to Register | ▪️ To register, visit the ASAT website and complete the online form. ▪️ Registration will close once all seats have been filled. | |
| What to bring to the test | ▪️BYOD Laptop: Students must bring their own laptop that meets minimum specifications. Refer to the BYOD Laptop Minimum Requirements for details. ▪️ Printed Test Centre Advice Letter: A single-sided printed copy. ▪️ Stationery and essentials: Pencils, an eraser, water in a clear bottle, and a snack (no nuts or nut products). ▪️ Optional: A mouse for use with the laptop. | |
| BYOD Laptop Minimum Requirements | Your personal laptop (BYOD) must meet these specifications: ▪️ OS: Windows 10 or later, macOS 25 or later, or the latest Chrome OS. ▪️ Wi-Fi: Your laptop must be capable of connecting to our local wireless network. ▪️ Battery: Fully charged, minimum 4 hours (no power outlets available). ▪️ Device Security: No login/security issues; child must know unlock steps. ▪️ Chromebooks: Make sure ‘Guest Browsing’ is enabled in Privacy & Security settings. If your Chromebook is managed by your work or school, and this option isn’t available, use a Windows laptop or a MacBook instead. ▪️ Antivirus: Disable any antivirus software to avoid conflicts with the ASAT platform. ▪️ Network: NO proxy or VPN settings enabled on your device. ▪️ Web Browser: Chrome is recommended. For macOS users, install the macOS version of Chrome and make sure iCloud Private Relay is disabled in System Settings app. ▪️ Device Compatibility: Tablets (iPad, Galaxy Tab, etc.) not supported. | |
| Laptop Rental Option | ▪️ Laptops are available to rent at $50 per student. Availability is very limited, and rentals will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. ▪️ Please indicate your rental preference during registration. Once all laptops are booked, this option will no longer be offered. ▪️ Parents/guardians are liable for any damage caused to rental laptops. | |
| Backup Device Policy | ▪️ If a student’s BYOD laptop fails during the test, a rental laptop may be provided for a flat $50 rental fee without parental or guardian permission. | |
| Test outcome | Parents/guardians will receive an outcome email on 12th April 2026, with a link to download their child’s detailed test outcome reports. | |
| Disclaimer & Conditions of Registration | 1. While every effort has been made to provide an accurate testing experience, no warranties, endorsements, or representations—express or implied—are made regarding the accuracy or suitability of this mock test for any particular purpose. 2. This test has been developed independently by Pre-Uni New College and is not officially endorsed by the NSW Department of Education. The actual selective school exam may differ in format, content, and level of difficulty. 3. All test questions are strictly confidential and will not be available for review. 4. Any form of cheating, including copying or taking screenshots, will lead to immediate cancellation of the test and loss of all results. 5. Makeup tests will not be available for missed sessions for any reason. 6. No refunds or credits will be issued for cancelled registrations. 7. If a student’s personal BYOD laptop encounters technical issues during the test, a rental laptop may be provided to prevent disruption. Parental permission is not required for this provision. A flat fee of $50 applies, regardless of usage duration. 8. Pre-Uni New College is not responsible for damage to students’ personal laptops. 9. Parents/guardians are responsible for any damage to the rental laptop resulting from their child’s negligence or carelessness. 10. If a test cannot proceed as scheduled due to unforeseen circumstances (such as venue issues or technical difficulties), the test centre may be changed, or a makeup session may be scheduled for a different date, time, and location. | |
